Department of Rehabilitation is based at Marie Therese House Neuro-rehabilitation unit at St. Michael's Hospital, Hayle.
Marie Therese House Neuro-rehabilitation unit is a 12 bedded in-patient unit which provides in-patient facilities for patients with neurological disabilities in most of Cornwall.
The unit caters to patients with various conditions such as Multiple sclerosis, Motor neurone disease, Huntington's disease, Cerebral palsy, Traumatic brain injury/non-traumatic brain injury, Spinal injuries, Spina bifida, Guillain barre syndrome, Muscular dystrophy, Post polio patients and patients following Neurosurgery.
The unit has expertise in treating patients requiring assisted ventilation.
The Rehabilitation service has close links with Surgical team, Palliative care team, Pain management team, Disability Services Centre, ITU regarding complex patients, Multiple Sclerosis specialist nursing team.
Rehabilitation team consists of Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Neuro-psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and liaison nurse.
Rehabilitation services also conduct Education Courses for Multiple Sclerosis, Rehabilitation seminars, In-service training and has attachment for Medical students and Nursing students.
