Royal Patronage For Osteoporosis Centre
Royal Patronage awarded to the osteoporosis service by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall, recognised the valuable local, national and international work of experts at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust.
The official naming of the Centre took place when Her Royal Highness attended an exhibition, held at the Knowledge Spa, devoted to common bone and joint problems featuring osteoporosis, as well as arthritis and back pain and also of what can be done to prevent or effectively treat them. Her Royal Highness' visit followed two highly successful, similar exhibitions, inviting over 200 local school and college students to learn more about bone health and physiology.
The Duchess of Cornwall Centre for Osteoporosis is a 'virtual centre' that brings together clinical care, research and education for osteoporosis in Cornwall. Professor Woolf and his colleagues have a national and international reputation for their work to improve the outcome for people with osteoporosis in Cornwall and beyond through education, research and advocacy to raise awareness and priority, improve prevention and treatment and ensure access to appropriate care.
