Notice of election
We are pleased to inform members that as part of our journey towards NHS Foundation Trust status, the Secretary of State has recommended our application to Monitor, the independent regulator for NHS Foundation Trusts.
As a result, we are writing to you to confirm the start of the election process, and issue this Notice of Election. Through the election, members will vote for the candidate that they want to represent their constituency on the Council of Governors.
The candidate(s) with the most votes will become the elected Governor(s) in that constituency. The Full council will consist of 11 elected public governors, 5 staff governors and 5 appointed partner governors.
Statement of Candidates December 2012
Public elections are to be held in the following constituencies

West constituency, electing 2 governors
Made up from Penzance, Marazion & St Just, Hayle & St Ives and Heltson & the Lizard Cornwall Council Community Network Areas.

Central West constituency, electing 3 governors
Made up from Camborne & Redruth, Falmouth & Penryn, Truro & Roseland and St Agnes & Perranporth Cornwall Council Community Network Areas.

Central East constituency, electing 3 governors
Made up from Newquay & St Columb, China Clay, St Austell, Bodmin, Wadebridge & Padstow, Camelford and St Blazey, Fowey & Lostwithiel Cornwall Council Community Network Areas

East constituency, electing 2 governors
Made up from Bude, Launceston, Cornwall Gateway, Liskeard & Looe and Caradon Cornwall Council Community Network Areas, plus any members living out of area.

The Isles of Scilly constituency, electing 1 governor
5 elected staff governors
The Staff Constituency will have 5 elected Staff Governors of which:

One seat will be reserved for a Registered Medical Practitioner or Registered Dentist

One seat will be reserved for a Registered Nurse or Midwife
-
One seat will be reserved for an Allied Healthcare Professional or Scientific or Technical
-
One seat will be reserved for an All other staff – Healthcare Assistants, admin, clerical
The remaining seat will be reserved for the next highest polling candidate from the entire staff constituency.

The role of a Governor is an important one, providing a direct link between the Trust and local communities. Governors will engage with local members to gather their feedback and views and ensure their voice is heard by the Trust. As a Governor, you will have the opportunity, as part of the Council of Governors, to work with the Board of Directors to help shape the Trust’s plans for the future and therefore be directly involved in achieving our vision of delivering high quality services to local people.

Please note that faxed nominations will not be accepted. Emailed nominations will still require the nomination form returning to ERS.
In order to support your nomination, you will be required to produce a 250 word supporting statement. All nominations must be completed and returned to ERS by 5pm on Friday 21st December 2012

Nominations open

Nomination forms are available on request from Electoral Reform Services (ERS) via the details overleaf. Nominations are open from
6 December – 21 December 2012

Deadline for receipt of nominations
|
All nominations must be received at ERS by 5pm on Friday 21st December 2012.
|
|
Candidate withdrawal
|
Should any nominee wish to withdraw their nomination, they must put this in writing to the Returning Officer by 5pm on Friday 28 December.
|
|
Voting
|
Ballot papers will be distributed to qualifying members on Tuesday 15 January 2013.
|
|
Voting Closes
|
Completed ballot papers must be received by the Independent Scrutineer by 5pm on Monday 4 February 2012.
|

Results announced
|
Tuesday 5 February 2013.
