A look at the role of our specialist nurse for mental health and well being...

Not strictly a team for this week’s profile but a new role here at RCHT to support us all, whether caring for patients with mental health problems or, more widely, in helping to raise awareness and dispel the stigma around them. It’s also Mental Health Awareness Week, making it an ideal time to reflect on this issue.

Lerryn Hogg is RCHT’s specialist nurse for mental health and wellbeing. She is here to support staff caring for patients detained under the Mental Health Act but also to support decision making, to educate and to promote a positive attitude to mental health problems – something that affects 1 in 4 of us. 25 Year Treliske Reunion

A reunion for staff who trained at Treliske Hospital between 1987 and 2001 is being organised for September.

It's being organised after former student nurse Jayne Martin, who now lives in Australia, visited Cornwall last year and saw the demolition of the nurses’ home.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 15 at Threemilestone Social Club from 7.30pm.

There is no entrance cost, however if guests would like to donate on the night to cover the cost of the venue and DJ, that would be greatly appreciated. Any extra money raised on the night above outlying costs will go towards Breast and Prostate cancer research.

So far over 100 people have confirmed their attendance. If you'd like to attend, email Susan Rogers via Groupwise on susan.rogers@rcht.cornwall.nhs.uk| with the heading Treliske Reunion.
