Thursday Pulse

Local context

A snapshot from our quality and performance targets...

In April over 84 percent of patients who had a stroke spent more than 90 percent of their time in hospital in our Acute Stroke Unit, meaning they had access to the specialist care it provides and improving their chance of a good outcome.

This is the best we have ever done - well done all!

Cataract surgery...

Patients in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly are not being affected by the reported rationing of cataract surgery in some parts of the UK.

In our own response to the RNIB's Freedom of Information request we confirmed our policy is to operate according to patients' needs and to offer sequential surgery on both eyes, when needed.

RCH staff - renewal of Driveshare Buddy Cards...

Staff who currently driveshare will know that their 'buddy cards' expired on the 30th April 2012.  There has been a slight delay in commencing the renewal process, but cards are now available.

All staff who participate on the Driveshare Scheme are requested to call into the General Office (1st floor, Trelawny Wing) between 10am and 2pm, Monday to Friday, with their driveshare partner(s), in order to be issued with new cards for the year 2012/2013. Each drivesharer is required to bring along their current buddy card, together with their Trust ID badge.  You will also need to be aware of your car details, i.e. make, model, colour and registration number, as these will be checked against existing information before your new buddy card is issued.

Buddy cards need to be displayed in the windscreen of your vehicle whenever you are actively drivesharing. Q-Park are aware that this renewal process is taking place, but staff are advised to leave a note on the dashboard of their vehicle to indicate that buddy cards are not on display as they are being exchanged on that day.

If you are no longer participating in the driveshare scheme, please advise Patient Facilities on ext 2901 and return your buddy cards as soon as possible. This renewal exercise will take place over the next four weeks.  If you fail to display new buddy cards by the middle of June, Q-Park will begin to issue warning notices.
