The Neonatal Unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, have received a donation of £1,602.75.
Lisa Vincent, her twin daughters Mimi and Lily and partner Todd Dowty visited the unit to hand over the money to staff after raising the grand total through a sponsored Jivathon.
Lisa and Todd, who run Le Jive, a company that runs modern jive classes around Cornwall, decided to raise the money after Lisa’s daughters were treated on the unit following their premature birth in 2001.
Lisa said: “This is a charity that is close to my heart because of the care my daughters received on the unit. They were born at 27 weeks weighing just 1lb 4oz and 1lb 14oz. This was the first time we’ve raised money for the unit and a jivathon seemed the obvious choice.”
Lisa and Todd, who live near Falmouth, asked local Le Jive dancers to help them raise the money by getting sponsored and the event was held at St Tudy village hall in the summer.
Lisa said: “We just want to thank all our dancers for taking part and contributing and also ASDA Penryn, Tesco Truro and Skinners Brewery for their support. It was a great event and we are thrilled to have been able to raise the amount we did.”
