Twenty-one new Governors have been elected to the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, marking another significant step towards attaining NHS Foundation Trust Status during 2013.
Over the last 4 weeks, RCHT members – staff and public – from across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly have been involved in electing the Trust’s first Council of Governors. Sixteen Public and Staff Governors will represent five geographic areas and staff groups within the hospital, together with 5 appointed Governors from RCHTs partner organisations.
Chairman Martin Watts said: “Our Trust members have elected a strong Council of Governors to represent their views and those of local people and I am very much looking forward to working with them. The role of a Governor is an important one, providing a direct link between the Trust and our community. Our Governors will engage with local members to gather their feedback and ensure their voice plays an influential part in the future development of RCHT.”
